Howard Day

 

Biography:


Howard Day was born in Manchester England. He has been painting full time since

2002. He has exhibited in Toronto, Montreal and St. Catherine’s, St. Helen’s Quebec and Port

Hope.

My preferred way to create a canvas is working with oil paint, usually with the subject

matter in close proximity. The subject matter creates the atmosphere that the painting is to

represent. For example, looking at a tree for a while you get a communication with the subject

and a sense of understanding of the pain and strength of purpose it has endured in its growth.

Oil as a medium gives me greater control over the final product. Since oil has inherent

properties that are not available in other media. The under painting will eventually join the

painting and contribute a spectral dimension. My works, also adhere to special relationships, this helps give the viewer a sense they are within the painting and are part of the

experience.
