Bio

I grew up on a lake in a small rural town, and headed to McMaster to receive my education. I earned an Hon. B.A in Cultural Studies and Critical Theory, at the time a relatively new discipline in the liberal arts. I was exposed to powerful, historico-political writings; figures whose breakthroughs have informed many of the dominant—or the responses to—the dominant modes of power. I found a linear train of thought, formed by a number of figures, which gave me my basic political coordinates. After my degree I began doing my own research, around the same time I also began to paint in a more serious way.

My work reflects my growing understanding of the world around me, with emphasis on the figures who I owe much of that understanding to. Whether it be the artists I admire or the philosophers I revere, I feel the need to reproduce their image and show their impact on me.
